The director president of Coocafé, Fernando de Romeiro Cerqueira, attended the meeting of the Advisory Coffee – AC, held on 24 and 25 August in Transfair Headquarters in Oakland, USA. The AC is composed of representatives of organizations that have Certification Fairtrade and they discuss issues related to Fair Trade and Transfair – certifying body U.S.
The meeting was attended by the representatives of organizations certified as Colombia, Costa Rica, Nicaragua,Guatemala, Peru, Ethiopia, Tanzania and Brazil itself,that was represented by Fernando.
At the meeting, Board members followed the presentation of updated figures from the U.S. market, discussed the main trends of world coffee production and partnership with the multinational Starbucks Corp. – the largest network of coffee in the world. The company has worked with Fairtrade coffee in its stores.
Participants also had the opportunity to know the reality of each country represented there. This group is already meeting some time, and as reinforced the president of Coocafé, Fernando Cerqueira, “The advice has been of great importance for the development of fair trade in the countries. Congratulations to Transfair for the initiative of creating the AC”, concluded the president.
